It s often shocking to Christians when we re presented with the undeniable historical fact that Jesus was a Jew. Rather than ponder and understand how Jesus s Judaism played a role in his life and the foundation of Christianity, many Christians have resorted to attacks on Christ s own religion: Judaism. The Jews killed Christ and such anti-semitic slogans ironically have carried the same logical weight as if some were to claim that African-Americans killed Dr. Martin Luther King due to anti-black racism. In his monumental Opening The Covenant: A Jewish Theology of Christianity Dr. Michael S. Kogan bridges the historical and intellectual gap that has for millenia precluded Westerners from understanding Jesus s Judaism.
